This about you may have caught on telly, but there's some never-before-seen ones on the way xo

  1. I almost remembered that Subway paid Jared Foggle millions of dollars, but this video made me forget.

    1. I made the mistake of reading this after finishing the video.

Now I have to start again.

    2. Could someone tell me who Jared Fogle is? For some reason I’ve forgotten…

    3. If I recall correctly, Jared Fogle was some guy from a very famous phone commercial.
His catchphrase was “Can you hear me now?” I believe.

  2. As an avid board gamer… Never have I ever felt so attacked by something so accurate…

    1. @Stephen a true board game teacher shouldn’t be able to win the game because they’re too focused on making sure everyone else is playing right and having fun. You shouldn’t have the ability to really focus on winning strategy. Plus, who’s gonna wanna play that game again after that? You’ll just beat them. If one person wins their first board game, then you’ve got a board gamer for a much longer time!

    2. @Dallas B Howell I 100% agree! I always lose when teaching as I tell everyone else the best moves on their turns and watch over them like a hawk. Its not until the second (sometimes third) play that everyone is mostly self sufficient and I can relax and try to win. Now if I could get people to try to learn the game rules a bit BEFORE playing, it would be a whole new world.

    3. As an avid board gamer… never have I seen a more cringe-inducing attempt to satire board games and the people who play them.

    4. @Paul Gibbon Unfortunately, I’m better at the latter while my wife is better at the former.

    5. As a casual board gamer… this reminds me of pretty much all Kickstarters.

    1. @Francis Collie yeah it would seem they deliberately hinged the build up on the 2 who seem bored and confused actually getting it and loving it. I think they held out as long as possible to get to that point tho.

    1. As someone who is barely made it out of the beginner stage of my Catan career, this game seems way easier to master then Catan.

    2. @Erik Peterson true, the traders & barbarians variant of Catan is flippin hard to even get a grasp of

    3. I actually reckon Catan’s success comes from the same place as poker – relatively simple premise, incredibly nuanced execution (often involving ganging up on the new guy).

  3. Broden made a crucial mistake, he forgot about the essence of the game.
    It’s about the CONES.

    1. I find CONES are counter productive to understanding the game …… but that’s just me.

  4. I’ve taught over 1000 board games and it still feels like this every time.

    1. Every time i try to teach my uncle and grandma any boardgame that involves cards in any way i just wait for the inevitable “this is just like that yugioh game isnt it?”

    2. Ah ah! Me and a friend play many games together. The rule is: I read the rules and explain it to him. But he is so impatient he keeps cutting me off with “let’s just begin and you explain along”, “just let me play and i will learn little by little”, and i sigh and let him start and on his first move he goes “ok what is the goal again?” or “uh what do i do?” and i have to start explaining again, just to be cut off again. Great times!

    3. @Nélia Ferreira I know that all too well! They are also the same type of people that get mad at you for not telling them some obscure rule, that you usually told them three times. Eventually as you play more games with them they do seem to get easier to teach, but for now just try to stick with more tactical games that you can teach as you go without needing to know all the rules at once.

If that fails, just pick out the game a week ahead of time and send them Rahdo videos. Rahdo doesn’t teach you everything, and he doesn’t always get everything right, but he does go through most of the rules as they come up during his playthrough.

    4. @Eric Shearer I know Rahdo! And Game Night and that guy from Star Treck! 😀
I do watch many videos on rules! I do my research very well because I know not many people have the patience or the experience to sit thru half-assed explanations! 😀 Either way, i have so many different games we always manage to quickly find one that matches the people and the situation.
It doesn’t frustrate me though. I find it so funny to explain rules, people have the most comical reactions! And sometimes noone respects the rules and the game turns into a chaos of surreal enjoyment. As long as we have fun!

  5. I love how this is both a complete piss take on what its like trying to play board games for the first time whilst also playing on how difficult it is to get friends into board games, whilst ALSO being extremely accurate *AND* lovingly crafted in such a way that insinuates these good good boys dabble in the hobby themselves. top stuff from the lads right here

  6. I was so stressed that Broden had to leave in half an hour, it made it difficult to watch the rest of the video.

    1. Me: “You guys want to play a really fun boardgame? We have just enough players.”
      Everyone: “Yes.”
(I take an hour to set up the game)
One guy: “Hey, I’ve got to go in 10.”

  7. “This is B U L L S H I T!
    “…wanna play again?”
    “I do, yeah”
This is me every single time I play any board game.

    1. My friend and I after I lose at Can’t Stop. It’s the grandaddy of BS with the mother of all urges to play again. And again. And again.

    2. Ive been playing this new game called Oath and this has been my experience EVERY game. We’ve played it 4 times and I hate it and love it at the same time

  8. Broden’s muttering “you’re difficult to be around” floors me every time, just the comedic timing, the delivery, everything, it’s brilliant

  9. “How long does this game take, anyway?”
“Well it says ‘twelve years and up’ on the box.”

    1. I only know the “on the box stands 30 mins but were playing our first round since grad school.”

    2. My mates and I are still playing that game of Twilight Imperium we started playing in 2014.

Crazy thing is, I actually do need to clarify that that’s a joke.

  10. The script is only missing one line. “You really just have to play to understand.”

    1. I think that would be too “obvious” but I’m sure they had thought about it

    2. Or the opposite to that “This is too many rules can we just start playing and work it out as we go?”

    1. @Ghetelen And it would be the perfect moment to play that other board game.

    2. @Caio Xavier Because you and that other guy wanted to play it forever, and now you finally have both enough time to play until morning, but next week he moves to Ireland.

    3. @Ghetelen That was oddly specific. I hope you eventually got to play it before he moved. lol

    4. That’s kind of why I’ve been enjoying a bunch of 1-4 player games lately.

  11. “Once I realized-” is, without doubt, the best line in this entire sketch.

  12. “Once I realized…” is so accurate. Somewhere along the line it just clicks and the game becomes super enjoyable.

  13. You need the wood to win the game. I don’t know why those two were finding it so complicated.

    1. They’re just so fixated on the Don Quixote card that they’re completely ignoring that you need the WOOD to win the GAME!

  14. I like it when a board game is over and you can finally tell your stategies to the other players that you had to keep a secret
