Daniel.. Daniel.. π would be annoying. Super interesting video. I really enjoy hearing the breakdown after watching the game. Thanks!
It always feels like the biggest gap in play between me and pros is not being able to fold good hands. Seeing players infinitely better than me having the same troubles sometimes, makes me wanna become better however. I think the best thing about your videos is exactly that, not only through other people’s hands, but through introspection do you make me want to study harder! If anybody deserves this luck, it’s definitely you. Keep it up! π―
At the end of the day, in every hand between 2 pros, one makes the wrong decision
Thank you for taking us into your mindset, Champ!
Well done Daniel!!!! I love watching you play and love these videos π
Seems like some hands play themselves. I have watched enough of Daniel’s play and seen so many sick beats go against him he deserves runners:)
I was thinking the same thing. This hand plays the same with whoever the opponents are…I think.
Witnessed a very similar one live yesterday that was one of those hands. Really just plays itself.
KJhh vs Q10ss
Flop is 8d,9s,Jc
Turn is Js
River is Ks
Obviously jacks full shoves and the straight flush snaps it off.
Super sick hand.
don’t you have to call here with aces full even if you are 90% sure you’ll lose? if you ever fold aces full here, you become exploitable in the long run by overfolding. i think this is just a spot where you can’t do anything but lose all your stack
If it’s exploitable because you overfold then you can’t be 90% sure you’ll lose though. Both can’t be true at the same time.
Eagerly awaiting these break downs!
Much love Daniel! You are a funny guy and I enjoy your content.
I folded aces full once. He had the straight flush and showed. Laying down a full house is hard.
Yeah, me too. But it was against an old man who is never bluffing or betting less than the nuts. Against any player that has any kind of range I’m just not folding.

Daniel, I watched all of SHRB and loved the limp strategy and how balanced you were with those limps. I recall a hand when you limp 3bet a hand like A5 suited which I thought was a brilliant technique and combination of old school tricks and new school thought process.
Iβve noticed with some of the older era players like yourself and guys like Ivey, is that you all really excel in multi-way pots, which I think is because people used to play more passively and call preflop opposed to 3betting. Iβve always noticed that you and Ivey remained aggressive in multi-way pots opposed to playing passively as so many players do because of how wide rangers are. I listened to your podcast with Lex and he talked about a topic he has with Magnus Carlson and how he sometimes plays his chess openings sub-optimally so that he can get into βpure chessβ quicker where he has an advantage. Was your limping strategy kind of in the same line of thought as muddling your preflop ranges and playing more multi-way pots to play βpure pokerβ where you have an advantage over the guys who mainly study solvers which are less accurate and studied in multi-way spots?
P.S
I wrote this before watching the video so apologies if Iβm being redundant π

I haven’t played cards in years, but I still watch Daniel’s breakdowns. The insight is fascinating.

Nice to see all that run bad Daniel had in early years is turning around, I’m not dismissing the maturity of his game wich is the determining factor of course.

The interesting thing is that if the roles were reversed Daniel and a few other very high level players could have laid it down.

“You only went far because you had a good hand” – Welcome to poker.
If Doyle Brunson can walk away from a table after getting felted saying “I didn’t get cards” then you realize even the best player needs SOME luck.

I am 100% OK with what you say here. However, what I would like to hear in this recap is: how would the hand go if the river was, say, another 4. Bet/fold? Check/call? If the latter, then.. up to how much would you call? etc. I mean, “you know what I mean” π
