Could have gotten 1 more street by betting the turn, maybe, plus he gave the guy a free shot at the King, which had he hit the King, Hellmouth would have thrown his classic tantrum
Not at all. We don’t know what position our opponent is in. My assumption is that Hicks is in an early position which would put AQ firmly in his range and if Phil raised and got check raised, a bluff would be very polarizing and make the next card difficult to play if it wasn’t the 8.
By waiting til the river Phil had a chance to act last and value bet the opponent
@@jonslg240phil didn’t think about all that, first he didn’t know that villain had AK, 2nd he didn’t like the Q on the turn, hence he checked, on the river he boated up and went for max value and failed
@@jonslg240 My thoughts exactly. Why check on the turn? PH does this all the time, then the opponent makes his hand on the river and we get videos on youtube like “1 hour of PH raging”.

@@Johnnycash753 Sorry you’ve drank Phil’s Kool-Aid. There’s a reason most pros have a very low opinion of him. He’s awesome taking advantage of amateurs in MTTs and that’s about it. He can’t hang in cash games and can’t hang against other top pros except in high variance formats where luck is the biggest factor. He’s extremely imbalanced and easy to play against; you just over-bluff him and over-fold to him and print money.
