Take a look at this throwback clip from the 2003 World Series of Poker Centerpiece as safeguarding champ Robert Varkonyi finds pocket kings versus the aces of Scotty Nguyen!
Aces vs Kings in 2003 World Series of #Poker Main Event | Scotty Nguyen vs Robert Varkonyi #wsop
This happened to me yesterday. I had the kings. Lost $100B chips. Sucks
Dude same. And guess what. King actually came on the flop making my set then the dude rivered an ace. It was just the ultimate needle by the dealer 😓
Happened to me in a tournament the other day too, Had a huge stack and of course the guy that barely covers me has AA
You lost fake money? 😂
@@PokerJunkie83 I did and it hurt
Legend
I’ve had kings and ran into aces several times.
1998 main event champ > 2002 main event champ.. you call it’s gonna be all ova baby.. b-b-b-baby, you know baby? Y-y-you play those kings like that, it’ll be d-d-da last hand y-you-you play in this event baby 😂
I knew it… thats why I put all my chips in lol
u have to play like this long term to win. finish ur bluffs, strong hands all the way
If you everrrrrrr folded Kings preflop then you’re the biggest Fish ever!
@@Dynamic0NE I have folded Kings pre before it was Queens and Jack’s that my opponents had never again!
@@jaket1858 I’ve seen something like this before. Someone folded kings to ace king and pocket nines going all in 😂
I hate how often I hear “I knew it” as soon as the cards are tabled one of the most annoying things in poker
Right? If you knew th3n either call or fold.
You know it but you can’t live life in fear….that’s what it boils down to. Percentage play.
“I got all you can eat, bay bee!” – Scotty Nyugen
Zị luôn he
You guys need to understand there’s a difference between him saying I knew it after Scotty Nguyen’s reaction to him going all in vs thinking he was behind but shoving anyway.
I would have reraised not shoved to get further reads.
For those that are criticizing Varkony for suspecting Nguyen had AA but STILL shoving preflop … even if he flat calls … all the chips are getting in on that 10-high flop with no flush/straight possibilities.
Pretty sure in the the long run it’s pretty easily a profitable decision
Totally right. Amateur hour in the comments.
He made the right move. You jam and if he calls than obviously you know he’s got it. Nobody’s laying down kings
You call it’s all over baby – scotty
This time it was Scotty who called 😎
When Scotty goes “oh you know” I had the aces?? Lol. He’s implying, “oh you knew but you still called huh?”
He didn’t call, he jammed him. As Scotty’s stacking his chips to call you can see him shaking his head knowing/thinking that Scotty must have aces
This was back in 2003 when literally the only hand calling a jam like that pre is aces
I saw a player on a poker show a few years ago say he considers this a coin flip because half the time you’re going to be the one with KK and half the time you’ll be the one with AA.
Exactly… 50-50 because you have to play it the exact same way… Only way to fold kings is if it’s a 4 bet back to you in a situation with 3+ players…
I get hands like 82 off suit for 40 hands in a row then when I get KK they get aces
Been there done that
I knew what you had, but my ego couldn’t let go, so I still called.
Not an ego thing. You just need to shove kings there when the situation comes up if you’re gonna have a profitable strategy. An unfortunate situation for Robert, but it’s still a financially advisable move to shove there
“And that is it” 😂
I knew it 😂 lol
I read Robert Kiyosaki by mistake ☠️
A real champion dethroning a lucky guy who won the world series.
Scotty had the best character in poker at one time. Kid poker would make fun of his heritage and Scotty would just smile it off, but it was ignorant behavior on the canucks part
“I knew it, I knew it…..”
No you didn’t
